Following extensive renovations, Anantara Convento di Amalfi Grand Hotel has opened on Italy’s Amalfi Coast.

Just a 15-minute walk from the center of Amalfi and approximately 90 minutes’ drive from Naples International Airport, the 52-key property offers elegantly renovated rooms and suites featuring original elements, exciting dining concepts and a world-class spa, all with panoramic views of the Mediterranean.

The restoration of the 800-year-old building carefully preserved historic features including ornate cloisters and an on-site Baroque church complete with a marble altar and majolica floor. The building’s façade was also preserved, maintaining its original materials and color.

The interior design takes its cues from the building’s history as a convent and the simple, artisanal lives of its original inhabitants. Materials sourced from nature – woods, leathers, natural fibers and precious metals – are blended with the luxurious details Anantara is known for.

Many of Anantara Convento di Amalfi Grand Hotel’s guestrooms and suites were originally built as monks’ quarters. Now they feature original tiles, vaulted ceilings and lime-washed walls mixed with rich textiles, sculptural furniture, local art, high-tech comforts and Mediterranean views.

The Suite Del Priore – named for its setting in the convent’s priory – boasts frescoes above the four-poster bed and views of the cloisters, while the Suite Dell’Eremita (The Hermit’s Suite) is set in its own lemon grove, creating a sanctuary of privacy.

The property’s Anantara Spa occupies a travertine-clad space overlooking the sea. Its three treatment rooms are complemented by an alfresco Fitness Centre and a newly-refurbished cliffside swimming pool.

Dining at Anantara Convento di Amalfi Grand Hotel celebrates regional ingredients and cuisine. At Dei Cappucinni, executive chef Claudio Lanuto introduces a convent kitchen concept with fresh seasonal produce from the property’s garden starring in his dishes. And La Locanda della Canonica Pizzeria by Gino Sorbillo presents eight signature pizzas designed by a global pizza ambassador to create a journey through Campania.

Anantara Covento di Amalfi Grand Hotel is the second Anantara property in Italy after the recent addition of Anantara Palazzo Naiadi Rome Hotel, and the brand’s eighth hotel in Europe.
