Minor Hotels today announced that Anantara Palais Hansen Vienna Hotel will launch in March 2024, marking the luxury brand’s debut in Austria.
The hotel is situated in the heart of Vienna on the Schottenring, part of the city’s Ring Boulevard, and occupies a listed palace built in 1873 by Theophil Hansen for the occasion of the Vienna World’s Exhibition. Over the years the palace served as municipal offices and cultural venues, before being transformed into a luxury hotel in 2013. It is currently operating as Palais Hansen Kempinski.
When it launches under the Anantara flag in March, the rebranded property will feature 152 classically decorated guestrooms and suites on three floors, including a nearly 3,000-square-foot Presidential Suite, the largest in the Austrian capital. Dining options will include a Michelin-starred restaurant, regional cuisine at the Wintergarten, a lobby lounge and bar, and a cigar lounge.
The property’s meeting and event space is comprised of ten function rooms on the ground floor and mezzanine level, including a ballroom that can accommodate up to 265 people. Leisure facilities will include an indoor swimming pool, fitness center, and spa.
Starting later in 2024 and continuing throughout 2025, Anantara Palais Hansen Vienna Hotel will undergo a significant renovation. The refurbishment will include guestrooms and suites, the lobby, meeting spaces, restaurants and bars. In addition, the existing spa will be enhanced and relaunched as Anantara Spa, combining European and Asian wellness traditions
“We are thrilled to be bringing the Anantara brand to Vienna, the undisputed cultural centre of Austria and one of the world capitals of music,” said Dillip Rajakarier, Group CEO Minor International & CEO – Minor Hotels. “Anantara Palais Hansen Vienna Hotel will offer an unparalleled experience of luxury, elegance and hospitality in the heart of one of Europe’s most beautiful cities.
