Anantara opens new resort on Island of the Gods

Anantara Ubud Bali Resort opened this month in the traditional hillside village of Banjar Puhu (Ubud) in Bali.

The luxury resort has 85 suites and pool villas cascading down a densely forested hill towards a mountain stream. The 570-square-foot suites feature a contemporary design, with oversized bathtubs positioned by windows overlooking the jungle. Ground-floor suites feature balconies framed by mature trees. Upper-level Payangan Suites have private gardens as part of their large balconies.

Anantara Ubud Bali’s one- and two-bedroom villas start at 1,130 square feet, and offer spacious living areas and private infinity pools positioned on the edge of forest-facing terraces. Each villas is served by a dedicated host.

Both suites and villas have furnishings crafted from natural materials, with neutral color palettes and subtle Balinese influences.

Anantara Ubud Bali offers a range of drink and dining options, including:

  • Amerta, a signature restaurant featuring an open kitchen with a wood-fired grill  that is helmed by Chef James Willis, who has created a Mediterranean-inspired menu highlighting local ingredients;
  • Kirana, an all-day-dining venue, offering an international breakfast buffet and authentic Indonesian dishes;
  • Sulang, an alfresco bar located next to the adults-only swimming pool, that serves small plates, specialty coffee and tea throughout the day and cocktails in the evening;
  • Lobby Lounge, a popular spot for afternoon tea and light lunch;
  • two pool bars;
  • and for special occasions, Designer Dining by Anantara, a fully customizable experience with options ranging from waterfall to rice paddy dining.

The resort is also home to a standalone Anantara Spa with four treatment rooms and one treatment suite as well as a relaxation lounge and hair salon. Signature experiences include Taksu Massage, a relaxing ritual combining Shiatsu, Hawaiian lomi-lomi and Balinese massage.

In addition, Anantara Ubud Bali has two state-of-the-art meeting spaces. The 1,930+ square-foot Wanakasa Room accommodates 144 guests theatre-style, 120 for cocktails, and 72 for banquets. The Lobby Garden has a capacity of 150.

Additional amenities at the property are:
