Four Seasons Chicago Hotel will debut an extensive multi-million-dollar renovation this fall.
The revamp of the 347-key property includes a reconceptualized lobby and social lounge; a new restaurant and bar in partnership with James Beard Award-winning chef Jonathon Sawyer; newly designed specialty suites and apartments; and enhanced event spaces.
“We are creating a destination where guests can revel in cultural immersion with locally-inspired food, drink, art and music that delivers the quintessential Chicago experience,” says Stephen Wancha, general manager, Four Seasons Hotel Chicago.
International architecture and interior design firm Rottet Studio is responsible for the transformation of most of the 30-year-old hotel’s interiors. San Francisco-based design firm BAMO has taken on the redesign of the one- and two-bedroom suites and two- and three-bedroom apartment units.
Highlights include:
- A redesigned lobby featuring an open floor plan, lighter colour palette and new day bar and social lounge;
- an extensive, evolving collection of art curated by expert Chicago-based art consultant Shashi Caudil and installed throughout the property, which will include comtemporary photographs representing Chicago’s wide range of cultural viewpoints in the lobby and photography, drawings and works of abstract expressionism by local and international artists in the guestrooms;
- a curated music program inspired by the city’s diverse music scene (jazz, blues, house, etc.) being created in collaboration with BELLOSOUND;
- and Rottet’s redesign of the 2,700-square-foot Presidential Suite (refined neutral colour palette with blue and gold accents), which occupies the corner of the 46th floor and features lake views, a living room with fireplace, a dining room with seating for eight, a powder room, and two king bedrooms complete with two marble bathrooms.
In addition, the more than 23,000 square feet of event space on the hotel’s 7th and 8th floors, including the Grand Ballroom, is being reinvigorated with new decor and furnishings.
“Over the past 30 years, we’ve been so fortunate to host many exceptional events from social celebrations to charity galas and corporate events,” says Jamie Breslin, director of catering, Four Seasons Hotel Chicago. “I am excited for the forthcoming awe-inspiring enhancements to pair with our dedicated service, which is always aimed at exceeding our guests’ expectations.”
The revamped property will also feature an exciting new signature restaurant developed in partnership with Food & Wine Magazine “Best New Chef” and James Beard Award-winning chef Jonathon Sawyer. The restaurant’s menu will feature well-travelled New American cuisine.
“It is a momentous time to join the team as the hotel is going through a true renaissance,” says Sawyer. “The restaurant will be a key part of this new era for the hotel and I’m excited to have the opportunity to do something spectacularly surprising with the ultimate food city as my muse.”
