Hyatt Centric Malta is now open, marking the brand’s debut on the Mediterranean island nation.
Located in the heart of St. Julian’s, the 170-room lifestyle hotel is moments from the resort town’s marina, restaurants and beaches, and just over 11 kilometers from the UNESCO World Heritage city Valletta. It is also a launchpad for visitors wishing to experience nearby dive sites, such as the Blue Hole and Blue Lagoon.
“The opening of Hyatt Centric Malta is an important addition to the fast-growing Hyatt Centric brand, joining six existing European properties, as we further strengthen our lifestyle and leisure portfolio in Europe,” said Michel Morauw, managing director, EAME North, Hyatt. “We are delighted to unlock opportunities for adventurous travelers to explore this thriving destination.”
The new-build property has been designed to reflect the local culture. Guestrooms are appointed with contemporary furnishings complemented by a color palette inspired by Malta’s colors. For example, blue doors are accented with bronze, mimicking traditional Maltese homes. At the hotel’s restaurant, JUMU, the menu features contemporary takes on traditional dishes such as il- tarja moqlija (fried vermicelli omelet), torta tal laham (minced beef pie) and its signature JUMU mqaret (date pastries).
Hyatt Centric Malta also offers a rooftop pool with views of the surrounding sea, a dedicated gym with the latest equipment, and a boutique wellness center with an indoor pool, treatment room, hot tub, and Finnish sauna.
In addition, the hotel has 1,808 square feet of dedicated event space including three meeting rooms.
“We are thrilled to welcome guests to the first Hyatt Centric hotel in Malta, in the beautiful town of St. Julian’s,” said Andrea Farrugia, hotel manager, Hyatt Centric Malta. “The hotel creates an engaging guest experience that not only captures the essence of Malta, but also offers savvy travelers a wealth of culture and historical experiences on their doorstep.”
As the seventh Hyatt Centric in Europe, this expansion reflects Hyatt’s accelerated brand presence in countries bordering the Mediterranean, with a portfolio spanning 13 different brands and over 80 properties.
