Vienna, Dubai and the United States took the top spots in the International Congress and Convention Association’s (ICCA) 2024 rankings of countries and cities winning the most MICE business.
ICCA GlobeWatch: Business Analytics – Country & City Rankings 2024, which was released yesterday at a press conference at IMEX Frankfurt 2025, reflects the compiled data on over 11,000 meetings that took place over the course of 2024 in every region around the globe. Last year, the United States hosted the most meetings (709) overall while Vienna was first in the city rankings having welcomed 154 business events. However, Dubai was at the head of the pack in the ranking of cities by average event participants, welcoming 899 attendees per event.
“The release of ICCA GlobeWatch: Business Analytics – Country & City Rankings 2024 is one of the most anticipated moments in the business events community each year,” said Dr. Senthil Gopinath, CEO, ICCA. “We’re excited to share this year’s data, which includes a wealth of information of incredible value to our members. The industry is growing at a fast clip, and ICCA is proud to be at the forefront of the change, impact, and legacy global events create each year.“
This year’s report introduced key enhancements that provide a more strategic view of global meeting activity. In addition to the core rankings, the expanded 2024 edition delivers a wealth of insights — organized by region, meeting size, and sector. Combining detailed data, geographical assessments, and future-focused analysis, the report underscores ICCA’s commitment to regional advocacy and positions association meetings as powerful tools for policy alignment, knowledge exchange, and long-term legacy.
These enhancements are part of the continued evolution of the ICCA rankings as the leading global reference for association meetings.
“ICCA is committed to maintaining its position as a champion and steward of the global meetings and events industry, and is dedicated to our mission of promoting the positive impacts international meetings and events bring to communities around the world. We look forward to continuing our role as a vehicle for change and an advocate for good in the industry and in the world as a whole,” Gopinath added.
