The Leading Hotels of the World (LHW) has added eight new member properties from around the world to its curated portfolio of luxury, independent hotels.
“At The Leading Hotels of the World, we aim to both enhance the presence of our collection in popular destinations for LHW travelers, and also put our brand on the map in remote areas, giving our travelers more options when experiencing the world,” said Deniz Omurgonulsen, vice-president, Member Experience, The Leading Hotels of the World. “This season’s collection welcomes new and storied properties across Europe, Asia, Africa and The Caribbean—demonstrating LHW’s global reach. From intimate new concepts to majestic heritage palaces and nature-protecting sanctuaries, these additions show how LHW continues to search for the truly remarkable.”
The eight new Fall 2024 new members are:

Set in a nature conservancy on the island of Büyükada, this renewed historic estate on the shore of the Marmara Sea blends the rich heritage of Istanbul with elevated contemporary luxury details. The resort has 69 rooms with views of the ocean or the gardens. The lagoon on which the island sits is said to have the cleanest waters of the Marmara Sea. Amenities include a spa with an authentic oriental hammam and golf-glazed indoor pool, and a Beach Club with fresh seawater infinity pool.
Castello del Sole Beach Resort (Ascona, Switzerland)
A sister property to LHW’s Widder Hotel in Zurich, Castello del Sole Beach Resort is located on the Swiss shores of Lake Maggiore, set on a 140-hectare estate comprising nature and waterside views. Althoff St. James’s Hotel and Club (London, UK)
Located down a quiet street near Mayfair, Althoff St. James’s offers 60 smartly-tailored guestrooms and suites fashioned by award-winning interior designer AMJ Design. Famed for its original art collection, depicting portraits of politicians, socialites and aristocrats of times gone by, the paintings found throughout the property were once housed in London’s most aspirational Gentleman’s Clubs. Dining venues include Seven Park Place Bar & Lounge, which serves a menu of tapas curated by Chef William Drabble, and Restaurant Francatelli, where the culinary prowess of Victorian chef Charles Elmé Francatelli is brought to life.
Espacio The Hakone Geihinkan Rin-Poh-Ki-Ryu (Hakone, Japan) – New Opening 2024
Found in an untouched valley to the south of Tokyo amidst peaceful forests, Espacio The Hakone Geihinkan Rin-Poh-Ki-Ryu is situated in an area accessible only to guests by funicular, and offers just nine private villas. The decoration of each sanctuary is inspired by the ever-changing horizons of Japan’s four seasons. Guests can expect exceptional service, luxury amenities (onsite hot springs, an indoor pool, etc.) and a long list of Japanese sake, whiskey and wines.
Sirru Fen Fushi Private Lagoon (Shaviyani Atoll, Maldives)
Sirru Fen Fushi Island, nicknamed “the secret water island” in honor of its expansive lagoon, sits within the northerly Shaviyani Atoll. Hues of blues and azures embrace Sirru Fen Fushi Private Lagoon, with its collection of villas on land and sea, contrastingly decorated in earthy tones of sand and bronze. Amenities include a 650-foot infinity pool, three restaurants and a holistic spa. Its unique, underwater art installation named “The Coralarium” was designed by British eco-artist, Jason deCaires Taylor, whose artistic approach to protecting the region’s diverse marine ecosystems perfectly represents the resort’s commitment to full immersion with the ocean.
Aleenta Phuket-Phang Nga Resort & Spa (Phang Nga, Thailand)
With floor to ceiling windows, private pools, and breezy private terraces, the 67-suite Aleenta Phuket embodies the Thai philosophy of indoor/outdoor living. Joining its sister LHW property, Aleenta Retreat Chaing Mai, and set on the island of Phuket, the resort is located in a secluded bay just a short distance from Phang Nga Bay, where limestone cliffs tower above crystal waters. Flora surrounds the Ayurah Spa and Wellness Centre, which offers holistic wellness programs, curated and executed by in-house master therapists. Culinary cultural immersion comes in many forms, from plant-based dishes at Seasons restaurant, ocean views at the Edge or bespoke private dinners arranged on the beach.

Every detail, layout and design are considered to maximize endless, marine views, privacy and access to the pristine destination. Shady canopies and spacious terraces invite indoor-outdoor living; a 42-foot (12 M) infinity pool reflects the surrounding nature; and the subtle transition of grass to sand and cliff to ocean is enhanced by the property’s architecture.
