Omni Hotels & Resorts has officially broken ground on Omni Pontoque Resort at Punta de Mita, the brand’s first luxury resort in Mexico.
Set to open in Summer 2026, the $225 million USD development will feature 244 guestrooms and suites as well as two four-bedroom villas with sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean. The resort will pay homage to the local culture rooted in the location’s natural surroundings.
“The Omni Pontoque Resort at Punta de Mita marks an exciting new chapter for Omni as we further elevate our brand by expanding into this premier destination,” said Kurt Alexander, president of Omni Hotels & Resorts. “We look forward to giving our guests access to the property’s unique and exclusive surroundings and culture, while bringing Omni’s service and experiences to the area.”
Resort highlights include:
- Design: The exterior and interiors are locally inspired with a contemporary twist, evoking a residential feel that creates comfort and familiarity. Taking cues from the resort’s jungle and ocean surroundings, the design inspiration leans heavily on clean architectural lines embellished with a mix of stone, wood and metals, resembling a modern beach home.
- Culinary: The resort will offer three original restaurant and bar concepts, as well as casual dining options.
- Amenities: Complementing the local area’s many attractions and activities, Omni Pontoque will offer a destination spa with 14 treatment rooms for wellness experiences and salon services, two retail shops, multiple pools throughout the property including adult-only and family-friendly options, a state-of-the-art indoor and outdoor fitness center, and a kids club.
- Meetings & Special Events: Boasting more than 27,000 square feet of meeting and event space, the Omni Pontoque will offer a 6,000-square-foot ballroom and dedicated meeting rooms each with exclusive event lawns and pre-function options with both jungle and ocean views. Additionally, an open-air event pavilion will stand apart from the resort for privacy, with an indoor-outdoor concept for special events.
Omni Hotels & Resorts is developing the resort in collaboration with a team of hospitality professionals, including The Beck Group, Farouki Farouki, Girvin Associates Inc., HKS Architects, Robert Glazier Architects and Waldrop & Nichols Studio.
