Sanasaryan Han, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Istanbul opened today in the Old Town district of Türkiye’s largest city.
The 63-key property is housed in a historic building. Originally constructed in 1895, the neo-classical structure blends the grandeur of the Old City with Istanbul’s cultural heritage. Designed by Ottoman architect Hovsep Aznavur and commissioned by philanthropist Migirdiç Sanasaryan, it is located steps away from landmarks such as the Spice and Grand Bazaar, the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, and the district of Karaköy.
Sanasaryan Han has undergone a meticulous restoration, honoring its heritage with a curated collection of artifacts and antiques. In the light-filled atrium, a grand chandelier takes center stage above elegant warm furnishings and large arched mirrors. A quiet, carefully curated space housing a library of books and relics draws inspiration from the property’s storied past of supporting education foundations. Displays of handmade ceramic parchment with drawings and paintings are housed in modern glass cases alongside contemporary art installations. In addition, a collection of monochromatic photographs by Harun Doğan is exhibited throughout the hotel, capturing the timeless allure of the city.
Guestrooms, including six suites, feature grand Ottoman arched windows delivering sweeping views of Istanbul. They are designed with a distinctive palette of black and cream, complemented by accents of marble and turquoise furnishings. Amenities include spacious bathrooms inspired by ancient Turkish Hammams; a Turkish tea set curated by the hotel’s Tea Master; handcrafted copper accessories that pay home to traditional Turkish customs; and local postcards.
Sanasaryan Han also has a distinctive restaurant and bar. Inspired by the vibrant streets of Istanbul, Sini offers a fine dining experience that celebrates traditional dishes. The Library Bar is a lively space that hosts a variety of cultural events including poem readings, book presentations, and live performances. These gatherings are accompanied by cocktails and aromatic tea tastings presented by the hotel’s Tea Master.
The Book Meeting Room serves as a venue for both business meetings and social events for up to 80 guests. This flexible space features high ceilings and an abundance of natural light illuminating the foyer.
