Accor has signed an agreement with Courbet SA to manage The Mozart Prague hotel and following an extensive renovation operate it under the Sofitel Legend brand.
The iconic hotel sits at the base of the Charles Bridge in the Old Town district in the heart of the Czech capital. Dating back to the 17th century, it has a rich history, having hosted celebrities such as legendary classical composers Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Richard Wagner, and in more recent times, Václav Havel, the writer turned politician who served as the first president of the Czech Republic.
The Mozart Prague is housed in a building with a unique history and connection to the city of Prague and its heritage. To meet the standards of the Sofitel Legend brand, it will undergo an ambitious renovation helmed by Prague architect Ivo Nahalka, who has been tasked with honoring and respecting the hotel’s historic exteriors. The addition of a new restaurant featuring a globally recognized brand will further enhance the luxury experience at the hotel.
Until the start of the refurbishment works, Accor will manage The Mozart Prague under a white label and will retain its existing signage. It is expected that the renovation will be complete in 2027, at which time it will reopen as the Sofitel Legend The Mozart Prague.
Jean-François Ott, president of Courbet, said, “Prague is my heart’s city. I bought my first building there in 1990 with all my savings. I settled there, built my life, and started a family. I love this city, respect it, and cherish it. I have owned The Mozart Prague for 25 years, and it was important for me to choose the best partner to entrust the management of the hotel. Accor fought for it and genuinely wanted it. Our common values of seeking authenticity, preserving history, and promoting local culture confirmed our desire to move forward with the Sofitel Legend brand.”
The Mozart Prague will be the seventh property to fly Accor’s Sofitel Legend flag.
