Virgin Hotels is opening properties in Las Vegas, New Orleans and New York City this year.
“As evidenced by our openings this year in these major cities, we are very optimistic about the return of travel despite the tremendous difficulties posed by COVID-19,” said Raul Leal, CEO of Virgin Hotels.
Scheduled to open this spring, Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, part of the Curio Collection by Hilton, offers 1,504 guestrooms and suites, more than five acres of poolside spaces and outdoor event venues and over 110,000 square feet of meeting, event and convention space. Formerly the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas, it is being developed by JC Hospitality, LLC.
This summer will see the opening of the new build Virgin Hotels New Orleans (rendering at top of post). It will feature more than 230 guestrooms, the brand’s centerpiece Commons Club, a rooftop pool and lounge, gym and dedicated meeting and event spaces.
Virgin Hotels will manage the hotel, the design of which incorporates a Southern residential feel combined with colourful, tropical architectural motifs.
This fall, Virgin Hotels’ new flagship is slated to open in the NOMAD neighbourhood at 1227 Broadway between 29th and 30th. Virgin Hotels New York City will have 463 guestrooms plus multiple concept suites, a roofscape pool, and a range of dining outlets including Commons Club and a rooftop bar.
Two more properties will open in 2022 and 2023 respectively: Virgin Hotels Edinburgh and Virgin Hotels Miami.
Currently under construction, the Edinburgh property will begin welcoming guests in 2022. The 10-storey will have 225 guestrooms, multiple dining and drinking outlets, and numerous meeting spaces.
Virgin Hotels Miami is slated to open in 2023. The 40-storey new build will have close to 250 guestrooms, a spa, and more than 15,000 square feet of meeting and event space. Its dining and drinking outlets include the brand’s signature Commons Club, a beer garden live music venue, and Funny Library Coffee Shop.
Cities with forthcoming new development include Philadelphia as well as Glasgow, Cannes, and Ibiza.
