Fairmont Breakers Long Beach is now welcoming guests.

Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, in partnership with Long Beach-based investment and development group Pacific6, announced on November 19 the opening of the landmark hotel after a multi-million-dollar transformation.

Located in the heart of Long Beach, California, just 25 miles south of Los Angeles, the property originally opened in 1926 and has played host to world-renowned celebrities such as Elizabeth Taylor, Cary Grant, Babe Ruth and Clark Gable.  It reopens under the Fairmont flag with reimagined public spaces, well-appointed guestrooms and suites, rooftop bar, spa, signature restaurants and more.

“With the highly anticipated debut of Fairmont Breakers Long Beach, we are not just bringing a piece of history back to life, but together with our partners at Pacific6, we are also ushering in a new era of luxury for Long Beach,” said Omar Acar, CEO of Fairmont Hotels & Resorts.

Led by design teams HBA and RVD Associates, the hotel’s extensive restoration honors the building’s original grandeur while incorporating modern design touches. Features such as untouched plaster mouldings, the original lobby mailbox and exterior ornamentation have been restored to their original glory. In the grand lobby, chandeliers, marble flooring and sleek furnishings complement the original architecture.

Fairmont Breakers’ 185 guestrooms and 22 suites now feature a coastal color palette anchored by deep blue tones and accented with touches of gold and mixed metals, marble bathrooms, Le Labo bath products, and large windows. Rooms range in size from 287 square feet to 790 square feet, including ADA mobility and hearing accessible room types.

The hotel also offers five distinct food and beverage concepts, including:

  • Sky Room, which has been recognized as Long Beach’s premier fine dining restaurant since 1938, is now helmed by Chef Maxwell Pfeiffer. Perched atop the property, it serves up sweeping views of the Pacific coastline along with classic fine dining dishes, including freshly caught seafood, premium meats, and regional produce;
  • Nettuno offers a seasonal menu inspired by authentic home-cooked meals under the guidance of Chef de Cuisine Giuseppe A. Musso;
  • Halo, the city’s only rooftop bar, offers 360-degree views stretching from downtown Los Angeles to Catalina Island;
  • Alter Ego is the property’s upscale jazz bar;
  • and La Sala is a lobby bar embodying classic California glamor.

In addition, Fairmont Breakers is home to a 10,000-square-foot spa, just under 10,000 square feet of flexible event space, comprised of ballrooms and meeting rooms, and a two-storey, state-of-the-art fitness center.
