Casa Brera, which opened last fall in Milan, Italy, has joined Marriott’s The Luxury Collection brand.
Casa Brera, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Milan is located in the heart of the city, which is the regional capital of Lombardy in Italy’s northwest.
Architect and designer Patricia Urquiola helmed the design of the property, which is housed in a 1950s-era building created by Italian architect Pietro Lingeri, a leading figure of Italian Rationalism. Details celebrating its Rationalist roots include geometric patterns on the walls, floors and ceiling outlining the property’s interiors, and the use of Italian marbles, especially granite, echoing the building’s facade. These elements are complemented by contemporary touches, such as artwork from fashion photographer Tim Walker, and furniture – large curved sofas, high leather stools, armchairs, etc. – most of which is designed by Urquiola for Cassina, Andreu World and Moroso.

The hotel’s 101 guestrooms and 15 suites also reflect the spirit of Milanese art, culture and design. Design elements like green ceramic mushroom lamps, geometric wool rugs, modular Poliform seating, and terracotta vases, all contribute to the hotel’s eye-catching Italian aesthetic.
On the food and beverage front, Casa Brera’s culinary direction is led by two renowned chefs. Michelin-starred Italian Chef Andrea Berton curates the offerings for Living lounge, Scena restaurant, and Etero skybar and restaurant. Chef Haruo Ichikawa, the first Japanese chef to earn a Michelin star in Italy, oversees the Japanese cuisine of Odachi restaurant.
