Hotel Indigo Tokyo Shibuya opened last week. It is the brand’s fourth property in Japan.

IHG Hotels & Resorts opened the 272-room hotel together with Pan Pacific International Holdings Corporation. Located near Tokyo’s famed Shibuya Crossing, its design is inspired by the colorful, dynamic urban jungle surrounding the iconic scramble crossing.

Highlights of Hotel Indigo Tokyo Shibuya include:

  • fashion-led artwork adorned with denim and leather motifs – a nod to Shibuya’s fashion culture – throughout the 12th floor reception area;
  • a unique selection of vinyl records in each guestroom – paying homage to Shibuya’s music culture;
  • and a rooftop terrace that offers a menu of charcoal-grilled dishes and signature drinks as well as panoramic views (Tokyo Skytree and Mount Fuji on a clear day!).

Food and beverage at the Hotel Indigo Tokyo Shibuya are covered by the property’s restaurant, Gallery 11, and Shibrewya, its neighborhood café. Gallery 11 is on the property’s 11th floor. Its menu focuses on Mediterranean dishes with a Japanese twist, all made with the freshest local and seasonal ingredients. The adjacent bar serves cocktails in a space filled with art and music. Shibrewya, which is found on the the hotel’s 3rd floor, serves freshly brewed original roast coffee and Instagrammable dishes such as waffles shaped like Hachiko, Shibuya’s famous and beloved Akita dog, whose statue stands tall in the center of Shibuya.

Hotel Indigo Tokyo Shibuya is set within Japan’s most popular shopping and dining districts. The area is home to world class architecture, unique cultural experiences, and relaxing urban parks.

“We are very proud to open the fourth Hotel Indigo in Japan, and the first in an urban setting. Hotel Indigo Tokyo Shibuya is a celebration of one of the world’s most diverse, ever-evolving neighborhoods,” said Rebecca Thorn, general manager, Hotel Indigo Tokyo Shibuya. “Our hotel brings to life Shibuya’s culture of art, fashion, music and design, and we can’t wait to share our stories. We are certain that our guests will discover new and exciting experiences in Shibuya.”

The Hotel Indigo brand first debuted in Japan in 2020 with the openings of Hotel Indigo Hakone Gora and Hotel Indigo Karuizawa, and in 2022 Hotel Indigo Inuyama Urakuen Garden. In 2024, the brand is also due to debut in Nagasaki.
