The first Hyatt-branded hotel has opened in the historic, colonial town of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.

NUMU Boutique Hotel is the latest addition to The Unbound Collection by Hyatt brand, and the second hotel within the portfolio in Mexico, following the recent opening of Rancho Pescadero in Baja California Sur, Mexico.

“It’s truly a remarkable feeling to officially open our doors and introduce The Unbound Collection by Hyatt brand to San Miguel de Aleende,” said Guillermo Valencia, the hotel’s general manager. “We look forward to providing independent-minded guests an authentic, thought-provoking experience as they immerse themselves in the rich culture of this charming city that will inspire memories for years to come.”

Designated an UNESCO World Heritage Cultural Site, San Miguel de Allende has been recognized by Mexico’s Secretary of Tourism as one of the country’s “Pueblos Magicos” (magical towns). It is renowned around the world for its well-preserved Spanish-colonial architecture, brightly coloured doors, private courtyards, and plazas. The name NUMU comes from the years of history and cultural exchange that influenced the city, inspired by train tracks combining the letters N-U-M-U.

Designed by Mexican architure firm Artigas Arquitectos, the property offers 44 luxury guestrooms including four suites. Each room features a private terrace or balcony overlooking either the interior courtyard garden or the city’s beautiful cobblestone streets.

The property also offers:

  • a rooftop pool
  • Nubye Spa: Delivering experiences that balance ancient rituals and advanced therapeutic modalities, the spa has three treatment rooms, a full-service beauty salon and a fully-equipped fitness center.
  • El Fogón de Don Enrique: The hotel’s courtyard restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It serves a menu of gourmet Mexican influences with vegetarian options.
  • Maura, mesa de sal: The hotel’s rooftop restaurant delivers 360 degree views of San Miguel de Allende along with signature cocktails such as “Poema Otomi” (mezcal, ginger and lemon juice) and “Na’Ha” (mezcal, passion fruit, guava, lime juice and avocado leaf bitters).
  • Bar El Caminero: The hotel’s lobby bar is home to its signature cocktail, the San Miguel, which is made with London Dry Gin, hoja santa, yellow chartreuse and tonic water.
