Thompson Hotels made its debut in Spain last month with the opening of Thompson Madrid, a 175-room property in the heart of the city.

“We are excited to welcome guests to Thompson Madrid and invite them to immerse themselves into the culture of the city, which can be found inside and outside the walls of the hotel,” said Carlos Erburu Zazpe, the property’s general manager.

Located on Calle De La Montera, which connects Madrid’s main square, Puerta del Sol, to the theaters, cinemas and boutiques of Gran Via, Thompson Madrid is housed in two historic buildings and features a curated design elements and architecture evocative of the city’s heritage.

Property highlights include:

  • Floor-to-ceiling windows and private terraces in guestrooms and suites:
  • Three signature dining venues: The Omar, an all-day bakery and bistro; Thompson Madrid Rooftop, which delivers panoramic views of the city along with authentic cuisine and craft cocktails; and Hijos de Tomás, an upscale, speakeasy-style bar featuring an inventive cocktail menu and live piano music.
  • Six event spaces that can accommodate up to 321 guests and which offer state-of-the-art tech amenities and delicious food and beverage options.
  • An urban wellbeing oasis on its rooftop that includes an infinity pool with a hydromassage system, an open-air courtyard, hilltop residential-style bar, day club and 24-hour boutique fitness center.

  • Chef Nino Redruello is the property’s culinary culture shifter, bringing the perfect combination of traditional Spanish offerings with an innovative twist.
  • Oteyza, the local contemporary couture brand that is deeply rooted in Madrid’s cultural and fashion community, will have a selected number of their one-of-a-kind handmade pieces, specially designed for the hotel, displayed in key areas.
