Waldorf Astoria Doha West Bay is now open. It is the luxury brand’s second property in Qatar’s capital city, joining Waldorf Astoria Lusail Doha.
“Qatar is seeing strong growth in international travel, welcoming more than four million visitors in 2023 – and we are delighted to be expanding our presence in the country with the opening of Waldorf Astoria Doha West Bay,” said Guy Hutchinson, president, Middle East & Africa, Hilton. “Whether in Qatar for business or leisure, the property’s timeless design, enticing culinary options, four-floor spa and sophisticated events facilities make it an urban oasis in the heart of the city.”
The 44-storey property has a façade and main entrance almost identical to the original Waldorf Astoria in New York. It offers 283 rooms and suites, as well as 50 luxury apartments, all featuring an Art Deco style. Notably, each guest is assigned a Personal Concierge, who will attend to every detail of their stay starting from pre-arrival to post-departure.
Highlights of Waldorf Astoria Doha West Bay include:
- Lobby Clock created by Tiffany & Co. (shown top of post): Handcrafted in Switzerland, the clock pays pays homage to the history of grand clocks at Waldorf Astoria properties around the world and celebrates the falcon, Qatar’s national bird, with a bezel inspired by the tips of a falcon’s feathers. The clock’s hands and number indicators are patented Tiffany blue. The iconic color is also used on the mohair upholstery of the bench surrounding the clock, and as a design accent in guestrooms.
- Four-Floor Wellness Escape: A range of wellness experiences are offered on the 39th to 43rd floor of the property. The expansive spa’s features include salt inhalation relaxation and hydrotherapy pools, thermal experiences including sensory rain walk, a salon, relaxation zones with private Alpha sphere experiences, and treatment suites. The dedicated fitness floor has a mixed and ladies-only Technogym fitness center, Bikram yoga and meditation studios, and separate male and female juice bars. Other facilities include a 26-meter marble-tiled indoor pool (shown above), and separate male and female pools with heated relaxation loungers.
- Seven drink and dine venues: Food and beverage facilities at Waldorf Astoria Doha West Bay include Peacock Alley (serving the brand’s Afternoon Tea and more); a Parisienne-style patisserie called Ledoux; The Courtland Bar, a New York-inspired mixology bar; Al Fayrouz Terrace, serving Levantine cuisine and shisha; and Tribeca Market, a gourmet food hall experience serving New York-inspired classics and delicacies at five different live stations. Additional venues opening soon are: MURU, a restaurant that will be helmed by Michelin-starred, Italian-Argentine chef Mauro Colagreco, and YUN, which will offer modern Cantonese and Taishanese cuisine in a setting reminiscent of the original tea houses and luxury dining rooms of 1930’s Hong Kong.
Waldorf Astoria Doha West Bay also offers a range of meeting and event spaces. These include two ballrooms, each of which can accommodate up to 500 guests, two boardrooms, and three multi-functional meeting rooms with access to an outdoor patio. All the event spaces have natural light and benefit from a separate meeting entrance.
