Hilton’s luxury brands, Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts and Conrad Hotels & Resorts, are expanding their presence in China through a multi-deal signing of four hotels with real estate development company Shimao Group Holdings Ltd. (Shimao).
Waldorf Astoria Shenzhen, Conrad Shanghai, Conrad Wuhan and Conrad Zhuhai will be joining Hilton’s pipeline of 11 hotels in China. The opening of the properties, starting with the Conrad Shanghai in 2022, will mark the brands’ entry into the four cities.

Hilton’s luxury brands expansion
A highlight of the signings is the conversion of a landmark building along Shanghai’s modern skyline into Conrad Shanghai. Located in the city’s tourism and business district, People Square, the 700+-room hotel wll be the largest hotel under the luxury Conrad brand in Asia when it opens next year.
Conrad Wuhan, the first Conrad hotel to enter the province, will deliver spectacular river views from its location along the Yangtze River. It is strategically located near the Wuhan International Expo Center. Tourist attractions such as Yellow Crane Tower, Guiyuan Temple and East Lake are a short 30-minute drive away.
Conrad Zhuhai will be the brand’s first property in the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Port City on the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HZMB).
Under the same partnership, Waldorf Astoria will debut in the tier one city of Shenzhen. It will be the brand’s seventh hotel in Asia. The Waldorf Astoria Shenzhen, pictured at top of post, will be located within the city’s newly developed central business district near Shenzhen Hong Kong International Centre.
Hilton currently operates 15 luxury hotels across its Waldorf Astoria and Conrad brands in Greater China, with 11 hotels in its luxury pipeline, including the first Conrad hotels which will open in Jiuzhaigou and Urumqi this year. The opening of the three Conrad hotels under the partnership will bring the current total number of Conrad properties in Greater China to 15 and growing, making the country home to one of the largest collections of Conrad hotels and resorts in the world.
