Waldorf Astoria Helsinki has opened in the city’s historic Kruununhaka District, marking the brand’s debut in Finland.

Owned by M&L Group and operated by Hilton under the Waldorf Astoria brand, the luxury property is housed in four beautifully preserved historic buildings, designed by Finnish architects Evert Lagerspetz and Armas Siitonen.

Waldorf Astoria Helsinki offers 116 rooms, including 32 suites, all of which embody a refined fusion of Nordic minimalism and modern sensibility. Design details include handcrafted furnishings and an earth-tone color palette. A selection of the 32 suites feature in-room saunas, steam rooms, and private terraces with Jacuzzis. Attic-style duplex suites showcase original wooden beams preserved by the Finnish Heritage Agency.

Drink and dine venues at the property, include the Peacock Bar, a nod to the legendary Peacock Alley at Waldorf Astoria New York, the birthplace of the brand. It will serve as a chic lunch spot by day, and a cocktail bar in the evening. In addition, a new restaurant will open in early 2026.

The property also offers a Waldorf Astoria Spa. Featuring a glass-roof atrium and a fountain in its lounge, its facilities include a cold plunge and Finnish sauna experience, a steam room, four treatment rooms, and Jacuzzi pools. The spa is complemented by a state-of-the-art fitness center and studio.

Waldorf Astoria Helsinki has more than 4,700 square feet of meeting and event space spread across two rooms. The largest (4,356 square feet) event space is a ballroom with parquet flooring and full-length antique mirrors.

As at all Waldorf Astoria properties, each guest has their own dedicated Personal Concierge.

“Waldorf Astoria hotels are located in some of the world’s most iconic destinations – from Rome and Cairo to Amsterdam and New York – and now, with the opening of Waldorf Astoria Helsinki, we’re proud to introduce Hilton’s first luxury property in the Nordics,” said Simon Vincent, president EMEA, Hilton. “This landmark hotel will set a new benchmark for luxury hospitality in the region, blending Waldorf Astoria’s signature sophistication with the distinctive spirit of Finnish culture. Helsinki is experiencing a remarkable rise in global interest, with international overnight stays up 17 percent in 2024 and more than 2.2 million visitors drawn to the city last year and we look forward to welcoming many of them to Waldorf Astoria Helsinki.”
