Waldorf Astoria Osaka is now open, marking the luxury brand’s debut in Japan.

Located in the city’s hip Umekita District, the opening of the 252-key property is perfectly timed for guests to enjoy peak Sakura (cherry blossom) season and to welcome international travelers for the Osaka-Kansai World Expo 2025, which begins on Sunday, April 13.

“Japan is unquestionably on of the world’s most compelling and sophisticated destinations. As Hilton celebrates more than 60 years of legacy in this remarkable country, we are proud to debut our iconic Waldorf Astoria brand in Osaka and elevate the benchmark of luxury in this cosmopolitan city,” said Alan Watts, president, Asia Pacific, Hilton. “This is a historic year for the brand worldwide, as we mark the growth of luxury travel here in Asia Pacific and set the course to more than double our Waldorf Astoria portfolio in this region over the next two years.”

Takaaki Nitanai, president, ORIX Hotel Management Corporation, said,” The opening of Waldorf Astoria Osaka is an integral part of the Umekita 2nd Project, contributing to the development and revitalization of Osaka, and elevating the wider Kansai region. Together with Canopy by Hilton Osaka Umeda – which opened at Grand Green Osaka last September – both hotels allow domestic and international travelers to fully immerse in the vibrancy of this dynamic city.”

Waldorf Astoria Osaka was designed by architect André Fu, who reimagined the brand’s residential style by fusing Eastern motifs through the lens of Art Deco aesthetics that echo the legacy of the original Waldorf Astoria in New York. The hotel features:

  • 252 large guestrooms and suites housed on floors 31 to 38 of the South Part Tower skyscraper at Grand Green Osaka;
  • four unique world-class dining and drink concepts, including the brand’s signature Peacock Alley, which delivers panoramic views of the city, a French brasserie (Jolie Brasserie), and Japanese restaurant (Tsukimi);
  • Personal Concierge service dedicated to curating tailored experiences for guests;
  • a full-service spa offering experiences that draw from Japanese healing traditions;
  • an indoor pool and thermal experiences;
  • and more than 355,000 square feet of elegantly-designed event spaces.

Waldorf Astoria Osaka is close to the designer boutiques of Shinsaibashi, the Dotonbori entertainment district, and the grounds of Osaka Castle. It is also steps away from JR Osaka Station, which offers high-speed rail connections to Kyoto, Nara and Kobe.
