Caption by Hyatt Central Sydney opened today, marking the brand’s arrival in Australia and the Pacific.
The 174-key property is located in the Haymarket precinct, a cultural and commercial district that is home to the city’s Chinatown, Koreatown, Thaitown, and landmarks such as the Capitol Theatre and Paddy’s Market.
The heart of the hotel is Talk Shop, an all-day social hub that blends café, bar, co-working space, and venue for curated programming such as poetry nights, live music, and Mahjong sessions. The culinary concept is led by Chef Yammi Cheung, who has created a menu reflecting the city’s multicultural scene.
As part of the brand’s commitment to hyper-local offerings, Caption by Hyatt Central Sydney has partnered with Sydney artist Chris Yee, whose bold, contemporary illustrations decorate its public spaces and guestrooms. His work is complemented by pieces from Melbourne-based creative Samy Baby and Japanese-Australian artist Hiromi Tango.
The brand is also committed to sustainability. Initiatives in its design and operations include locally-sourced food and beverage options, energy efficient technologies in its heating/cooling systems, and food waste management protocols. In addition, interior design by Mitchell & Eades redefines the concept of recycled, repurposed, and reused materials.
Other amenities and services at Caption by Hyatt Central Sydney include in-room Chromecast, digital check-in, digital key, fitness center, free internet access, and meeting facilities. Guestroom categories range from Standard to Deluxe and Premium.
“Caption by Hyatt Central Sydney will introduce a fresh approach to travel,” said Temara Exton, general manager, Caption by Hyatt Central Sydney. “It is all about being a place where our guests are empowered to create their own experiences, and can connect, explore, and stay on their own terms.”
The hotel joins an expanding portfolio of Caption by Hyatt properties around the world, including locations in Shanghai (China), Osaka (Japan), Nashville (USA) and Tokyo (Japan).
