The Monarch San Antonio™, a new-build $185 million luxury hotel more than a decade in the making, is on track to open on March 3, 2026.

Located in the Texas city’s newly reimagined Hemisfair District, the 17-storey property features 200 guestrooms with 28 suites, three chef-driven restaurants, a  lobby bar, a spa and more than 15,000 square feet of flexible event space — including a grand 5,000-square-foot ballroom.

The property helps fill a gap in San Antonio’s hotel offerings, where luxury accommodations make up only 8 percent of inventory compared with 20 percent in Austin and Dallas.

Situated in an urban park in the heart of downtown, The Monarch is just steps from the River Walk and the Alamo, San Antonio’s two most iconic attractions. Drawing inspiration from the monarch butterflies that migrate through the region each year, the hotel’s design blends natural materials and contemporary architecture to create calm, sunlit spaces where limestone textures, sculptural forms and regionally inspired art echo the city’s heritage and natural landscape.

Owned and operated by San Antonio-based Zachry Hospitality, The Monarch stands on the same site where H.B. Zachry helped shape the 1968 World’s Fair, continuing the family’s century-long legacy of innovation and city building.

The hotel also offers:

  • three dining venues: Oak & Amber, a signature restaurant just off the lobby; Aleteo, the rooftop restaurant and bar; and The Nectarie Café, a eatery with a French sensibility during the day that transitions at dusk into an intimate setting for charcuterie and cheese pairings.
  • a third-floor pool deck and open-air fitness studio
  • La Mariposa, a sculptural, three-winged, light-filled pavilion positioned at the base of the hotel designed in collaboration with local artists and architectural partners.
