Metropole Bangkok, A Tribute Portfolio Hotel opened today in the trendy Thonglor district of Bangkok, Thailand. The opening marks the debut of Marriott’s Tribute Portfolio, a family of independent boutique hotels, in the country.
This newly rebranded, one-of-a-kind hotel fuses the charm of colonial architecture with the cosmopolitan glamor of 1920s Shanghai. Metropole Bangkok’s transformation draws inspiration from Shanghai’s golden age, when the city was known as the “Paris of the East.” Interior design details from the era include Chinoiserie design elements, Art Deco touches, and romantic Eastern symbolism – from dragons and guardian lions to delicate floral motifs. The hotel’s storytelling is anchored in the “Memoirs of Meiying,” a narrative of East-West romance that runs through the design. Meiying, a young Shanghainese woman, and Martin, an English traveler, symbolize a fusion of cultures and the boundless limits of love and discovery – themes reflected throughout the property’s art, architecture, and ambiance.
“It gives me great pleasure to introduce the Tribute Portfolio’s unique style of storytelling hospitality to Thailand with the opening of Metropole Bangkok,” said Brad Edman, market vice-president for Thailand, Cambodia & Myanmar, Marriott International.“Tribute Portfolio is a growing collection of characterful, independent boutique hotels united by a common spirit and captivating spaces that bring people together. This makes it perfectly suited to the trendy Thonglor community, and we look forward to helping visitors create experiences that connect them with the spirit of this dynamic district.”
Metropole Bangkok features 116 guestrooms including 113 Studios, two Studio Executive Suites and a One-Bedroom Suite. Each of these rooms feature a kitchenette, a smart toilet and complimentary Wi-Fi. Guests also enjoy access to an array of amenities, including onsite parking, a 24-hour fitness center, an outdoor pool and sauna.
The hotel is located in Bangkok’s Thonglor district, offering easy access to the vibrant Sukhumvit–Asoke area via Thonglor BTS skytrain and Petchaburi MRT subway stations. It is also a few minutes away from Rama 9, 40-minute drive from Suvarnabhumi International Airport and easily accessible via the Airport Rail Link.
Metropole Bangkok’s location also provides convenient connectivity to key industrial hubs, including Chonburi, Rayong and Ayutthaya, each within an hour’s drive, making it an ideal choice for business travelers. The hotel also provides a complimentary shuttle service to Bangkok Hospital and Samitivej Hospital.
“At Metropole Bangkok, A Tribute Portfolio Hotel, we’re excited to welcome guests to a space where the timeless charm of 1920s Shanghai meets the vibrant energy of Thonglor,” said Sascha Kunze, cluster general manager. “Every detail — from Chinoiserie-inspired accents to rich crimson and gold tones is designed to tell a story and create a sense of romance and creativity.
