Andaz Bali, the first Andaz resort in Asia, has opened in the heart of Sanur, a town on the famed Indonesian island’s southeast coast.

“As we continue to offer our guests new and immersive ways to rediscover Bali, we are honoured to introduce the Andaz brand to Sanur, where Indonesia’s first Hyatt-branded hotel opened more than 40 years ago,” said David Udell, group president, Asia-Pacific, Hyatt. “Andaz Bali is our first Andaz resort in Asia, adding to the brand’s growing urban portfolio in the region which includes Seoul, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Singapore, Tokyo and Xiamen.”

A short 22-minute drive from Ngurah Rai International Airport, Andaz Bali pays homage to Balinese art and craftsmanship as well as the architecture of local villages.

Design details include:

• the use of red brick, a traditional construction material in Sanur;
• an open, barrier-free Village Square that serves as the heart of the resort;
• and low-rise accommodations and facilities spread across the landscape following the cardinal directions, which play a significant role in the Balinese Hindu religion.

Bangkok-based Tierra Design and Spin Design Studio in Tokyo designed the property’s 149 guestrooms and villas. Starting at 710 square feet, they are designed in contemporary Balinese style, using locally sourced materials such as bamboo, andesite stone, marble and teakwood. Each room has a private balcony overlooking the garden, ocean or lagoon.

The resort’s 6,221-square-foot two-bedroom Beach Villas are located steps from the beach and feature an outdoor terrace, spacious living room, a swimming pool and in-villa check-in.

On the f&b front, Andaz Bali offers a signature restaurant and four “intertwining” restaurants. The former, Fisherman’s Club, is a modern take on a Jimbaran seafood dining experience with a sophisticated beach club ambiance. The latter, located on the ground floor of the Village Square, is inspired by the shophouses in Denpasar’s Chinatown. Here guests can sit where they want, ordering from Wok Wok (Indonesian favourites), Fire Fox (grill), Blue Oven (roasts) and Deli & Bakery (coffee, desserts).

Guests’ wellness needs will be met at the Shankha Spa, which features treatments inspired by Balinese healing traditions using indigenous ingredients such as sea salt, pearl powder, coconut oil and spices. It also houses a fitness centre, sauna, steam room, hot and cold plunge pools, yoga space, an adults-only pool, and a small boutique and lounge.

The resort also has four interconnected studios by the Village Square spanning a total of 2,540 square feet for meetings and events. In addition, it offers a variety of outdoor venues including the beach garden, Beach Villas and private courtyards.
