Anantara Kafue River Tented Camp is set to open in April 2026 in Zambia. It will be the immersive hospitality brand’s first safari tented camp.
The property will be located high above the banks of the Kafue River, which is the longest river entirely within the country, and connect guests directly to Kafue National Park, Zambia’s largest and oldest wildlife reserve. It will be elevated 3.5 meters to canopy height on rosewood timber platforms and lightweight structures, protecting seasonal water flow and allowing wildlife to move unhindered beneath.

Anantara Kafue River Tented Camp will have ten villas and three Horizon Terrace Suites all linked by meandering lantern-lit paths and oriented for views of the river and surrounding bush. South Africa’s MRS studio is designing the interiors, which will feature sliding walls, outdoor showers, and open-air layouts. Decorative elements will include locally-sourced materials, organic textures, and mid-century accents inspired by the river and landscape.
Anantara Kafue will also offer culinary experiences that celebrate the ingredients from the riverbanks and surrounding plains. Dining spaces include a signature restaurant set beneath a canopy of trees and a cozy lounge for afternoon tea. As part of Anantara’s signature Designer Dining experiences, private bush dinners can be arranged under the stars.
In addition, the camp will offer immersive wellness experiences. With no light pollution, guests will enjoy world-class stargazing. Its Anantara Spa will be situated in a secluded clearing between the cedars, where guests can lie back beneath the stars and relax. Pool Villas and Presidential Villas will feature dedicated wellness spaces. Other facilities and activities include a full-size swimming pool, guided yoga sessions, and a fully-equipped gym.
Taking full advantage of Kafue National Park, Anantara Kafue will also deliver river and land safari experiences ranging from nighttime safaris to luxury camping and riverbank picnics. The camp’s private riverboats will give guests the chance to observe crocodiles, hippos, and otters. On guided land safaris, they will see antelopes, buffaloes, and more than 500 species of birds, including goshawks and African jacana.
Anantara Kafue River Tented Camp is a three-hour drive from Lusaka International Airport.
