Condado Vanderbilt Hotel, Puerto Rico’s landmark luxury oceanfront retreat, has completed the extensive renovation of its guestrooms, suites and corridors.
“This milestone represents both an evolution and a renewal for Condado Vanderbilt,” said Ben Tutt, managing partner of The Condado Collection. “We have honored the property’s rich history while thoughtfully enhancing every detail to resonate with today’s luxury traveler. With redesigned guestrooms, a distinctive wellness offering, and the arrival of Chef [Juna A.] Peña, Condado Vanderbilt is reaffirming its place as Puerto Rico’s most iconic luxury destination.”
HBA International helmed the redesign at the property, which was originally build in 1919 by Frederick William Vanderbilt. The reimagined accommodations – 317 guestrooms, including 100 large suites – feature subtle references to Spanish Colonial architecture and Caribbean artistry. Design details include crisp white moldings, hand-tufted carpets, polished marble, deep-toned woods, mirrored details, metallic accents, and a color palette of soft green hues.

The renovation is complemented by the introduction of an expanded wellness package. Condado Vanderbilt’s new In-Suite Wellness Package includes:
- Commodore Oceanfront Suite accommodations
- daily butler service
- in-suite massage to induce sleep
In addition, guests receive an in-suite wellness kit featuring natural cold-pressed juices, a sleep kit with pillow spray, eye mask, and herbal relaxation tea, a Stakt yoga mat with QR code linking to a guided yoga class, organic aromatherapy and body products crafted in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico, and a branded reflection journal and pen.
Condado Vanderbilt further elevates the guest experience with the appointment of Executive Chef Peña, whose 25-year international career spans Five-Star and Five-Diamond properties, including The Ritz-Carlton Isla Verde, The St. Regia Bahia Beach, and The Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Dorado Beach. He has received multiple accolades, including AAA Four Diamond recognitions, MVP Awards, and international guest chef invitations. Peña will oversee the property’s eight dining venues, in-room dining, and banquet operations.
Condado Vanderbilt is also home to a 10,000-square-foot spa with the island’s only Hammam, a state-of-the-art fitness center, multiple oceanfront pools and beach areas, and more than 30,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space.
“At Paulson Puerto Rico, we are proud to preserve the essence of historic icons such as the Condado Vanderbilt while reimagining its future,” said Rolando Padua, president of Paulson Puerto Rico. “This renovation reflects our continued commitment to investment in Puerto Rico’s hospitality landscape and delivering excellence that honors history, inspires our people, and elevates our island’s global standing.”
