IHG has opened an InterContinental brand resort in Vietnam’s Ha Long Bay, the country’s twice-recognized UNESCO World Heritage Site.

“InterContinental has been hosting guests for almost 80 years in every corner of the world. We are incredibly proud to extend this ethos to the shores of Ha Long Bay, an area famed for some of Vietnam’s best beaches,” said Jesper Larsen, the property’s general manager. “InterContinental Halong Bay Resort is a place where the serenity of the sea meets with Vietnamese hospitality. Our entire guest experience is inspired by the modern luxury traveller – a guest who is culturally curious and drawn to the world around them. Here in Halong, we invite guests to be immersed in the familiarities of InterContinental whilst learning from this enchanting part of Vietnam.”

The resort’s architecture, led by WATG, reflects the heritage and natural beauty of the region. Interiors by P49Deesign take inspiration from Vietnam’s traditional bamboo basket boats in the lobby, while the bedrooms highlight the colors of land and sea. Turquoise blue upholstery, brass accents, and playful textures are reminiscent of the marine life, rippling waters and iridescent pearls which surround the resort.

InterContinental Halong Bay Resort offers:

  • 275 guestrooms, suites and villas
  • six dining venues, including Roku & Star Bar, a rooftop restaurant serving Japanese cuisine (opening later this year), Marina Kitchen (a seafood specialty restaurant), and La Baguette (French-Vietnamese bistro)
  • Hidden Lagoon, the resort’s signature spa
  • 11 meeting and event rooms ranging in size from more than 11,650 square feet (Tonkin Ballroom) to 430 square feet (VIP Room)
  • 8,640+ square-foot event lawn
  • sports and recreation facilities, including beach volleyball, outdoor archery and three swimming pools
  • a Game Room featuring a cinema, internet gaming and classic favorites such as billiards, darts, foosball and air hockey
  • a Planet Trekkers kids’ club, which offers children aged four to 12 culturally immersive activities such as conical hat painting, canvas bag decorating, candle making and face painting.

The resort joins a global portfolio of over 231 InterContinental hotels – including seven in Vietnam.
