All of us in New Orleans thank all of you for your notes, texts and calls sent southward during the recent “Tropical Storm Barry Watch.” Fortunately, the storm bypassed our beloved New Orleans and for that we are thankful. All levels of government worked tirelessly to ensure that the city was prepared and prepared we were, although the media alarmed the rest of the globe to a needless and frankly hysterical fever pitch.
While the low lying bayous outside of the levee systems south of the city were, as usual, temporarily affected and a few errant ponies had to be gathered in the swamps, we are in great shape and preparing for the next 300 years… The Rolling Stones even moved their monumental concert forward a day, and the City rejoiced Monday evening!
Exciting news includes the new airport (opening in the fall), six new hotels, two new riverboats, the Fillmore, expansion to several museums, NOCHI (New Orleans Culinary and Hospitality Institute) and expansion of the Convention Center and cruise terminal to follow. It’s an embarrassment of riches Way Down Yonder!
Again, thank you for your friendship, concern, and support and come see us soon!
