Hotel Taschenbergpalais Kempinski Dresden reopened on February 16, 2024, following a year-long renovation.

“We are delighted to reopen this beautiful building, which is steeped in tradition, and give the people of Dresden back ‘their living room’,” said Martin Schwass, managing director of the hotel, speaking at the reopening party. “We are certain that the symbiosis of contemporary luxury and tradition that we have created with the redesign will delight locals, our regular guests and national and international clientele because history is preserved and, at the same time, retold here.”

Hotel Taschenbergpalais has reopened with transformed public spaces and guestrooms, all reimagined by Berlin interior designer Markus Hilzinger. The motto “history retold” guided the work, ensuring that the historical details of the building, which dates back to 1705, were successfully retained while contemporary comfort and state-of-the-art technology were added.

Highlights of the renovation of the five-star 211-key property, include:

  • the use of sustainable and allergy-friendly building materials;
  • redesigned guestrooms and suites featuring hand-picked furniture and selected works of art;
  • the newly-designed Das Palais restaurant, which serves local specialties and international classics and now includes a private dining room;
  • and a special lighting concept, modelled on the course of the Elbe River, connecting the “living room of Dresden” (lobby) with the newly-founded pâtisserie “Amalie.”

Hotel Taschenbergpalais also offers a dedicated wellness area with a pool, saunas, steam bath, infrared, fitness center and luxury spa.

In addition, it has nine modern meeting rooms, including a ballroom, all of which offer views of the city. These multi-function spaces can accommodate up to 500 guests.

The Hotel Taschenbergpalais is located in the center of Dresden, surrounded by sights such as the Zwinger Palace, the Semper Opera House, the Royal Palace, the Frauenkirche and the Elbe riverbank promenade. Dresden is the third largest city in eastern Germany.
