The Hoxton, Vienna opened today in the Austrian capital’s 3rd district, a neighborhood that is home to some of the city’s best design and art schools, museums, and the Stadtpark, its oldest public park.

The 196-key property is housed in a marble-clad modernist landmark building designed by Carl Appel, which was once home to the Austrian Chamber of Commerce. Amenities include a Cuban-inspired rooftop bar, a pool, a bistro, a basement cocktail bar, and the brand’s first “Auditorium” event space.

AIME Studios is responsible for the Hoxton Vienna’s interiors, which are inspired by Appel’s mid-century aesthetic and the Wiener Werkstätte movement. The large, light-filled, double-height lobby is framed by the original travertine-clad walls and terrazzo flooring, and accented with ruby red sofas, 1950s-inspired armchairs, greenery, and mid-century lighting. Other design details in the hotel’s public spaces include locally-sourced vintage furniture, bespoke rugs, and artwork curated by Sterling Art.

Guestrooms are available in classic Hoxton categories including Shoebox, Snug, Cosy and Roomy. Nods to early 20th-century Austrian design include geometric patterned curtains included by iconic Wiener Werkstätte fabrics, ruched headboards inspired by the style of architect Adolf Loos, parquet flooring, bold painted ceilings, and local photography and 1950s-inspired art of the walls. Bathrooms feature cool blue or glossy black tiles, warm wooden trims, grey terrazzo floors, and chrome fixtures.

Other highlights of the Hoxton Vienna are:

  • Bouvier: This relaxed, all-day modern bistro is located off the lobby. It serves an elevated menu of produce-led, New York meets European food. The space includes a 70-seat terrace.
  • Salon Paradise: This underground cocktail bar is designed to capture the essence of the free-spirited Beat Generation. Ennismore’s F&B studio, Carte Blanched, worked with Rory Shepherd of Paris’ Little Red Door on the drinks list.
  • Cayo Coco: This fun, relaxed rooftop bar has a pool, open-air dining, and almost 360-degree views of the city out to the Austrian Alps.

Notably, the Hoxton Vienna is also home to the brand’s largest, grandest event space to date. The “Auditorium” is spread over 1,540 square feet  and features tiered, cinema-style seating, striped walls, electric blue drapes, and a large floor space. It also has its own street-level entrance and two fully-stocked bars.

The property also has a Hoxton staple – The Apartment. This multifunctional space is located to the right of the front desk. It is comprised of three private rooms: the Den (440+ square feet); the Conservatory (580+ square feet); and the library (340+ square feet).
