A Hyatt Place brand hotel is in the works for Whitehorse, the capital city of Canada’s Yukon Territory.

Northern Vision Development LP (NVD) announced plans to construct and manage the 100-room property, which will be the Yukon Territory’s first Hyatt Place brand hotel.  The new-build property will have a central Main Street location in downtown Whitehorse, steps away from shops, offices, restaurants, coffee shops, tourist attractions and the Yukon River waterfront.

“Hyatt Place Whitehorse will bring a new class of hotel to the market,” said Rich Thompson, CEO, NVD. “We considered an extensive range of options and landed on the Hyatt Place brand because of a strong fit with the Hyatt team and because we felt the brand was ideal for our Main Street location. This is an exciting next step for the NVD Hotel Division.”

Scott Richer, Hyatt’s regional vice-president of development for Canada, explained that the property is a great example of Hyatt’s continued focus on developing premium hotels that will attract business and leisure travelers alike.

“As the first Hyatt hotel in Canada’s North, we are thrilled to collaborate with the Northern Vision Development team on this important project,” he said. “I want to offer my congratulations and gratitude to everyone at Northern Vision Development who collaborated with us in order to bring this standout development to fruition.”

Hyatt Place Whitehorse will offer:

  • 100 guestrooms with separate places to sleep, work and play, as well as a Cozy Corner sofa-sleeper
  • multiple f&b options: breakfast bar, a full-service restaurant, a market serving freshly prepared meals anytime, and a bar offering specialty coffees and premium beers, as well as wines and cocktails.
  • free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel and guestrooms
  • fitness center featuring cardio equipment with LCD touchscreens
  • event spaces offering flexible, high-tech meeting/function space
