Moxy Sydney Airport opened today, marking the Marriott brand’s debut in Australia.

Located in Mascot, a suburb in the inner-south of Sydney, the new 301-room hotel is 10 minutes from Sydney International Airport via Moxy’s pink airport shuttle bus.

“We are thrilled to continue to grow our global portfolio and introduce the energetic Moxy brand to Australia with the opening of Moxy Sydney Airport,” said Matthew Boettcher, vice-president and global brand leader of Moxy Hotels. “Sydney is a city of iconic attractions and urban excitement, making it the perfect destination for a spirited brand like Moxy. We look forward to welcoming our fun-hunters to this world-class city and experience Moxy’s young-at-heart spirit and disruptive hotel experience.”

Moxy Sydney Airport’s interiors were created by Canada’s MAED.COLLECTIVE. The hotel’s façade features a pubic art mural created by local artist Elliott Routledge, who is renowned for his abstract designs. Routledge also created a sculpture that celebrates the brand’s “Play On” spirit, rising from a podium of level four.

Design details were inspired by Mascot’s industrial and art deco heritage. The lobby features exposed ceilings, wrought iron beams, and natural materials. Designed as a multi-functional work and interactive social space, it is centered around the hotel bar and includes the hotel’s Living Room, a communal space surrounded by a curated collection of eclectic and nostalgic pieces, including a 1970s photobooth and reclaimed vintage lounge chairs.

The industrial-chic bedrooms at Moxy Sydney Airport are designed to maximize space. They feature modular furniture including Moxy’s signature Stellar Works foldable workspace desks and chairs, as well as smart multi-use features like peg walls. Tech-savvy touches include motion-activated LED lights, keyless entry, 55-inch flat-screen TVs, and complimentary Wi-Fi. Each room also has a retro phone where guests can listen to a themed bedtime story. Guestrooms walls are decorated with artwork – abstract depictions of Mascot’s historic market gardens and local Australian fauna – from Sydney creator, Evi O. Accommodation options range from king and queen sleepers, to twins and quad bunks suitable for families and groups.

Food and beverage needs at Moxy Sydney Airport are handled by Bar Moxy, Little Baxter, and Moxy Pick-Ups. The former is a space for working and connecting during the day, and a social hub at night. Little Baxter is the hotel’s streetside café, serving grab n’ go bites, coffee and fresh baked pastries from local artisan baker, Sonoma. Moxy Pick-Ups offers 24/7 grab-and-go snacks and drinks.

The hotel features five meeting studios for private events. These spaces range from the ArtHouse, a not-so-typical boardroom with a collection of contemporary Australian artwork curated by local art gallery, to Saint Cloche and The Record Room, inspired by Australia’s rock n roll era, with an alfresco option on Moxy Terrace.

The hotel also has a 24/7 gym equipped with with an iconic Moxy pink boxing bag, and Moxy bikes, which can be rented to explore the local area.
