Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California, will unveil the results of its latest renovations this summer.

The resort, which has long been a favorite of celebrities and luminaries since it opened in 1965, refreshed its lobby, bar, Costa De La Luna ballroom, and meeting spaces in 2021. This phase of the three-year renovation of the Spanish Mission-style property includes the revitalization of guest accommodations, the resort’s spa, and its Coastal Event Center as well as the redesign of its championship golf course.

More than 500 guestrooms, including villas, suites, hospitality rooms and presidential suites, are being reimagined. Accommodations will feature light airy spaces, soft casual textures and neutral tones. They are being given a distinctly “La Costa look” via design details such as handcrafted painted tiles, dimensional abstract art and wrought ironwork. Refreshed rooms and suites include Resort Rooms, Golf View and 1-Bedroom Suites.

In addition, suites tucked away near the Garden Pool’s courtyard, offering a hotel-within-a-hotel feel, will be transformed into brighter, more vibrant room offerings while retaining Spanish colonial architecture with a mid-century twist. Reimaged villas include Bedroom, Studio, Executive Suite, and 1, 2 & 3-Bedroom Suite Villas.

Building on the unveiling of Costa de la Luna and the event lawn in 2021, the resort is adding more space this year with the expansion of the Coastal Events Center, featuring 100,000 square feet of versatile spaces.

The award-winning Spa at La Costa, the property’s crown jewel, is also undergoing a transformation. Updates to the 43,000-square-foot facilities include the addition of three new salt rooms, refurbished steam rooms with new aromatherapy features, and new state-of-the-art equipment in the showers, locker rooms, and select treatment rooms such as the Vichy showers. The spa’s walls will be lined with vintage art as a nod to the property’s historic past.

Finally, Omni La Costa’s championship golf facilities, led by renowned designer Gil Hanse, are being redesigned, marking a new era of golf at the resort.

“For decades, Omni La Costa has been a world-class destination for savvy travelers, wellness seekers, and golf aficionados. This latest transformation will only further embody the ‘La Costa Lifestyle’ that is embedded throughout the resort’s grounds,” said Craig Martin, managing director at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa. “Since its opening in 1965, the resort has been a glamorous refuge for Hollywood’s elite; this new phase of renovation is poised to uphold the property’s longstanding position as a world-class destination for generations to come.”
