Hilton has signed an agreement to welcome Palacio Provincial to Curio Collection by Hilton.

Owned by Hostal El Convento and managed by International Hospitality Enterprise (IHE), the Palacio Provincial Hotel is located within the Old San Juan District, the oldest European settlement in Puerto Rico and the United States.

The 43-room boutique hotel is housed in an early 19th century building, which has a diplomatic history dating back to 1838.  It opened its doors to guests in 2021 following an extensive renovation.

Palacio Provincial’s interior design combines urban sophistication with laid-back charm. Guestrooms and suites feature 12-foot wooden window doors leading out to Juliet balconies offering views of Old San Juan. Furnishings include plush beds, large smart TVs, work desks, custom wall cabinets and decorative accents reflecting the area’s history, art and culture.

The hotel’s culinary offerings include a courtyard restaurant – Consular Restaurant & Bar – and the Atelier Rooftop Terrace, which is one of the newest venues in Old San Juan providing excellent views of San Juan Bay and the Colonial city.

In addition, Palacio Provincial has a variety of versatile spaces that can be used for events.

“We are thrilled to announce the signing and upcoming conversion of Palacio Provincial, Curio Collection by Hilton and expanding Hilton’s Puerto Rico portfolio to such a sought-after destination with a remarkable hotel tht preserves the cultural legacy of Old San Juan and meets our guests in the destinations they want to travel,” said Pablo Maturana, vice-president, Development, Caribbean and Latin America, Hilton. “The signing reflects our commitment to expand our robust pipeline in the region and nearly double our presence in Puerto Rico.”

Hilton currently has a portfolio of nine hotels spanning six of its brands in Puerto Rico. The hospitality company has more than 30 hotels across the broader Caribbean region.
