Porter Airlines last week launched a new daily roundtrip service between Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport (YUL) and Vancouver International Airport (YVR).

The route is the carrier’s first Western Canada destination from Montréal. Service from Montréal to Edmonton and Calgary will start later this spring. This addition to the carrier’s routes out of Montréal follows its announcement last month of new seasonal non-stop service between Montréal and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and San Francisco International Airport (SFO), beginning June 27 and June 28 respectively.

“Our presence in Montréal is continuing to grow directly through new Porter service and with our strategic airline partnerships,” said Kevin Jackson, president, Porter Airlines. “Our fresh western route from Montréal will take Porter’s elevated economy service to even more passengers across Canada and the globe.”

The Montréal-Vancouver route is operated aboard the carrier’s 132-seat Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, which features a comfortable two-by-two configuration. On-board service include complimentary, fast WiFi, a selection of premium snacks, and free beer and wine served in glassware. Priority check-in, extra legroom seats, premium pre-mixed cocktails, and fresh, healthy meals are also available with the all-inclusive PorterReserve fares or purchased à la carte with PorterClassic fares.

The scheduled Montréal-Vancouver service offers a variety of connections to Eastern Canada via YUL, including Halifax, Toronto-Pearson and Toronto-City. Porter’s codeshare partnership with Air Transat provides connections from YUL throughout Europe.

With the addition of the three new western destinations, Porter will operate eight non-stop routes out of Montréal.

“ADM Aéroports de Montréal is thrilled with the addition of Vancouver to the destinations offered by its partner, Porter,” said Mark Ruel, Capacity and Air Service Development, ADM Aéroports de Montréal. “Whether its for business or to explore the landscapes of Western Canada, this new nonstop service offers a range of options for passengers departing from YUL.”

Terry Chou, manager, Air Service Development, Vancouver International Airport, congratulated Porter of the start of the new service in time for the spring travel season and Montréal’s renowned International Jazz Festival. “As one of YVR’s most popular Canadian destinations, the new service will provide passengers with an additional option and more flexibility when traveling.”
