Rosewood Blue Palace, Rosewood Hotels & Resorts‘ premier property in Greece, will open in 2025 on the island of Crete.

Situated between the small fishing village of Plaka and the port of Elounda, Rosewood Blue Palace will be the reincarnation of an iconic resort owned by Phāea (Golf Residences S.A.) which will undergo a complete renovation before reopening  as part of the Rosewood portfolio.

“With a compelling landscape that has fascinated explorers for centuries, we are delighted to mark our entrance into Greece with this stunning resort,” said Sonia Cheng, CEO, Rosewood Hotel Group. “Crete is an ideal location for creating meaningful connections that bring our guests closer to the soul of the destination and takes them far beyond their expectations.”

A seaside sanctuary, Rosewood Blue Palace will feature 154 rooms and suites, 85 of which will have private pools. The Grecian firm, K-Studio, is designing the property’s interiors with the exception of its six restaurants and bars, which are being designed by Greek-born, London-based interior designer Afroditi Krassa.

The dining program will include specialty restaurants, a beach club, a well-appointed bar with views of Spinalonga Island off the Gulf of Elounda, and an all-day restaurant, all of which will source produce from local purveyors and the the on-site organic garden.

Rosewood Blue Palace will also offer comprehensive wellness facilities, including Asaya, Rosewood’s holistic well-being concept, a fitness center, a movement studio, a yoga pavilion, dedicated areas for hydrotherapy treatments, and three outdoor pools.

“Through two decades of dedication, Blue Palace has been our heart’s endeavor, our family’s legacy, and a testament to the true soul of Crete – a history marked by exceptional service and attention to detail. We could not have found a better partner than Rosewood, known for their mindful approach, timeless elegance and extraordinary experiences, for Blue Palace’s next chapter,” said Agapi and Costantza Sbokou, co-chief executive officers, Phāea.

Rosewood Blue Palace will join the brand’s growing collection of European properties including Rosewood London, Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco, Hôtel de Crillon, A Rosewood Hotel, Rosewood Villa Magna, Rosewood Vienna, Rosewood Munich, Rosewood Amsterdam (opening in 2024) and Rosewood Schloss Fuschl (opening in 2024).
