Hyatt Regency Shanghai Songjiang has opened in the heart of the Ecology Business District in China’s largest city.
The 256-key property faces Wulong Lake, creating a de facto lakefront retreat in an area of Shanghai that melds a rich history with modern infrastructure.
“We are excited to bring the Hyatt Regency brand’s signature intuitive service and seamless stays to guests in Songjiang,” said Frank Chen, general manager, Hyatt Regency Shanghai Songjiang. “Guests can discover Hyatt’s globally-renowned gourmet food and beverage experiences at four signature restaurants and lounges, inspiring spaces to meet and connect, and extensive recreational facilities including indoor and outdoor swimming pools for a refreshing and stress-free experience.”
The hotel’s guestrooms, including 18 suites, feature contemporary interiors rendered in natural grey and soft grey upholstery with mustard and teal accents; smart technology; and views of Wulong Lake, gardens or the urban skyline via floor-to-ceiling windows. Select rooms offer garden terraces and access to the sixth-floor Regency Club Lounge, which has its own lakefront terrace.
The decor of the property’s public spaces draws inspiration from Songjiang culture and nature as well as the area’s famous textile patterns. For example, the ceiling and lights in the Regency Ballroom reflect starlings sprinkled on the blue waters of Songjiang’s river system.
MICE planners and event guests will enjoy the property’s lakefront location and its more than 20,000 square feet of event space. The 14,500-square-foot Regency Ballroom and five multi-functional event rooms, which can accommodate from 60 to 600 guests, are located on the third floor. The venues offer natural light and advanced technology, including a 1,076 square-foot HD LED screen. A lakefront lawn is also available for group use.
On the wellness front, the hotel has two swimming pools – an outdoor freeform pool and an indoor heated infinity pool – with natural light and lake views. An advanced glass-fibre quartz sand filtering system lets swimmers enjoy a natural, eco-friendly experience. Adjacent to the pools, a 2,368 square-foot fitness centre offers state-of-the-art equipment and an individual yoga studio.
Dining and drink options at the property include Xiang Yue Chinese restaurant, which features 11 private dining rooms and serves authentic Jiangsu and Zhejiang cuisines as well as Songjiang specialties and signature Peking duck, and the all-day Market Cafe, which showcases East-West dishes prepared on-demand from open chef kitchens.
