Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group will manage a new beach resort on the island of Mallorca, Spain.
Scheduled to open during the second half of 2024, Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra is being developed by Madrid-based Blasson Property Investments.
Situated on a peninsula on the Costa d’en Blanes, the resort comprises a significant reconstruction and redesign of the former H10 Punta Negra hotel. Spread over three hectares, the resort features landscaped cliff tops, gardens cascading to the sea, and two coves.
Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra, Mallorca will offer 131 guestrooms, including 44 suites and nine bungalows located a few steps from the waterfront. Accommodations will provide full or partial sea views, and outdoor terraces or balconies, some with private plunge pools.
The resort will offer a wide range of cuisines at a variety of local and international restaurants. Indoor and outdoor event spaces include a garden.
A comprehensive Spa at Mandarin Oriental will offer the company’s signature wellness therapies and beauty treatments, with a focus on local nature-inspired programs. The spa includes an indoor swimming pool, while three outdoor pools are located across the resort.
The resort’s new contemporary design is being created by HKS, Estudio Lamela Arquitectos, an award-winning Spanish architectural firm with strong sustainability credentials. The interior design, featuring many local cultural references, is being overseen by award-winning designer Laura Gonzalez.
“We are delighted at this opportunity to bring Mandarin Oriental’s legendary service to this extraordinary beachfront resort in the Balearies, and we look forward to collaborating with Blasson Property Investments to develop a luxury hotel that will be designed and constructed with a strong sustainability ethos,” said James Riley, Group Chief Executive, Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group. “Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra, Mallorca will be a welcome complement to our hotels in Barcelona and Madrid and we are extremely pleased to be expanding Mandarin Oriental’s presence into another important leisure destination in Europe.”
Located within Calvià, one of the most exclusive municipalities on the island, Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra is close to the Portals port, the international airport, and the historical landmarks of Palma de Mallorca, the island’s capital city.
