Two Marriott brands are adding to their portfolios with the addition of a property in Australia.
Melbourne Marriott Hotel Docklands is the first Marriott Hotels property to open in Australia in 20 years.
Featuring 189 guestrooms, it is the premier international five-star hotel in the District Docklands on Waterfront Way, a retail, leisure, and entertainment precinct. The centerpiece of the hotel is the sky-high water feature, a 92-foot wet-edge rooftop infinity pool serviced by an adjoining bar with panoramic views across Melbourne’s CBD skyline, Bolte Bridge, Port Phillip Bay, and Hobsons Bay.
“The opening of Melbourne Marriott Hotel Docklands marks the seventh property within the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio in Melbourne and the 27th property in the country, providing more opportunities for inspiring connections and moments of self-discovery around the world,” said Manny Rappenecker, vice-president and global brand leader, Marriott Hotels.
In addition, the hospitality company’s Luxury Collection Hotels & Resorts brand also welcomed a property.
The Tasman, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Hobart is the brand’s first hotel in Australia.
Located on the island state of Tasmania, Hobart is Australia’s second-oldest city and is now renowned for its epicurean culture, art scene and natural surroundings.
Centrally located within the restored heritage area of Parliament Square overlooking Hobart’s historic waterfront, The Tasman offers 152 guestrooms and suites, all designed to showcase the architectural narrative of the property—a narrative that encompasses three eras of design: Georgian, Art Deco, and Contemporary.
In addition, the hotel features three distinct epicurean experiences, all showcasing the best of Tasmanian produce and cuisine.
It also has more than 8,200 square feet of meeting and event space spread over seven customizable rooms. These spaces include the Cumulo Room, which features floor-to-ceiling windows framing an outdoor terrace that overlooks St. David’s Park, and Parco, an underground warehouse-style events space that can accommodate up to 400 people.
“Hobart is a truly captivating and dynamic city, allowing a seamless fit for The Luxury Collection, known for creating experiences for global explorers in some of the world’s most enchanting destinations,” said Philipp Weghmann, vice president and global brand leader of The Luxury Collection.
Marriott brands operate 27 properties in Australia.
