Umana Bali, LXR Hotels & Resorts opened on November 23, 2023.

Situated on a clifftop on the Indonesian island’s southern most tip at Ungasan, the 72-villa property is the first LXR resort  in southeast Asia. It is owned by PT Surya Semesta Internusa Tbk and managed by Hilton.

LXR Hotels & Resorts presents a tremendous opportunity for Hilton’s Asia Pacific luxury growth,” said Alan Watts, president, Asia Pacific, Hilton. “With its coveted location and exclusive positioning, Umana Bali is set to shape a new generation of luxury travel in Bali.”

LXR drew from Balinese Tri Hita Karana philosophy and its three pillars, Nature, People and Spirituality, to shape a meaningful, contemporary vision for Umana Bali. Global design firm WATG | Wimberley Interiors created the property’s architecture, landscape architecture and interiors to reflect local legends, beliefs and customs. Design details include contemporary sculptures of Balinese dancers adorned with the ancient coins used as offerings on important occasions, and a metal and handblown glass chandelier in the lobby inspired by the fan-like movements of the iconic Legong Keraton or Kraton (Dance of the Palace).

In line with Hilton’s mission of being deeply committed to responsible tourism, Umana Bali prioritizes both local community and the environment through partnerships with skilled local artisans. Through these partnerships, the resort has commissioned unique pieces of art, sourced local materials  like Javanese marble and rattan, and developed eco-friendly amenities including vanity kits made from recycled banana leaf paper, coconut shell boxes, and natural slippers woven from pandan and mendong fibers.

Highlights of the property include:

  • Spacious villas, each with its own private infinite-edge pool and outdoor hot tub.
  • A three-bedroom, 1,200-square-meter villa (Umana Pool Villa) suitable for groups or multi-generational families.
  • Wellness facilities and experiences, including: The Lohma Spa, yoga, sound healing with a Tibetan singing bowl, meditation, breathing exercises, soul blessing ceremonies, and more.
  • Five drink and dining options: Oliverra, the resort’s clifftop restaurant (Mediterranean cuisine); Commune (South East Asian cuisine with a twist); Pad Pool Bar; Mer Lounge; and Uma Beach House, a surfside escape with views of Melasti Beach (opening in April 2024).

“I couldn’t be more excited to welcome Umana Bali as the first LXR property in South East Asia,” said Feisal Jaffer, global head, LXR Hotels & Resorts. “Umana Bali will showcase our commitment to creating exceptional story-worthy adventures for discerning travelers in the world’s most incredible destinations. We look forward to offering adventurers distinctive, immersive experiences that reflect the beauty and charm of this beloved Island of the Gods.”
