DiamondRock Hospitality reports that The Frenchman’s Reef Marriott Resort & Spa in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, will reopen in 2020 along with a new, adjacent resort—Noni Beach, a St. Thomas Resort, which will operate under Marriott’s Autograph Collection banner.
The resort complex, located on the Caribbean Sea, features a cutting-edge design by renowned architects Kollin Altomare and designers Whitespace Interiors. One of the highlights of the resorts will be new restaurant concepts by critically acclaimed chef and global restaurateur, Richard Sandoval. The $200+ million, two-property project will bring well over 400 new jobs to the St. Thomas community.
The Frenchman’s Reef Marriott Resort & Spa sits atop a harbourside cliff. Damaged in September 2017 by Hurricane Irma, it will reopen with 384 guestrooms, including 28 suites; three resort pools including an infinity-edge pool with swim-up bar; a state-of-the-art luxury wellness spa; and 85,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space.
The new Noni Beach Resort is the first Autograph Collection hotel in the U.S. Virgin Islands. It is comprised of a series of beach house style villas containing 94 guestrooms, including two honeymoon suites, all situated directly on the beach. The property will also feature a private, beachfront infinity-edge pool with swim-up bar; a 3,000-square-foot beachfront ballroom; and multiple dining experiences including the Caribbean-casual Coco’s Beach Club as well as a restaurant with an elevated, 180-degree panoramic view of the Caribbean Sea.
“This signing underscores our commitment to St. Thomas and to bringing back tourism, meetings and events,” said Laurent de Kousemaeker, chief development officer, Marriott International, Caribbean and Latin America. “We believe that DiamondRock Hospitality has a winning vision for this iconic property—with both the Marriott Hotels brand and the introduction of the Autograph Collection brand.”
