Hotel Stratford, a charming European-style boutique property in San Francisco, will be the first U.S. hotel in Accor’s Handwritten Collection, one of the hospitality company’s newest brands.

Located near Union Square on the famed Powell Street cable car line, the property will be Accor’s third hotel in the City by the Bay when it opens this summer, joining Fairmont San Francisco on Nob Hill and Fairmont Heritage Place, Ghirardelli Square.

Owned and operated by San Francisco-based Frame Ventures, Hotel Stratford San Francisco, Handwritten Collection was built in 1910 and has recently undergone a multi-million-dollar refurbishment, ensuring the unique character of San Francisco shines through in every detail.

The 94-key property features an elegant lobby with warm wooden paneling, marble counters and intuitive self-check-in technology. Navé, a new European-style lively café/bar, designed by San Francisco Architecture and Interior Design firm MODO, is set to debut this summer. In alignment with Accor’s sustainability commitments, the hotel has eliminated single-use plastic throughout the guest experience and many of its operating supplies are made from recycled materials.

Launched in 2023, the Handwritten Collection brand is a portfolio of carefully curated addresses that now has built a global footprint of 35+ hotels open and in development. The brand has grown primarily through the conversion of existing independent hotels.
