Reed Exhibitions Mexico, organizer of IBTM Americas, has cancelled the 2020 edition of the show due to the ongoing effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The show was slated to take place August 26-27 at Centro Citibanamex in Mexico City. In its place, IBTM Americas will offer a series of virtual events throughout the rest of the year through to 2021.
“We are in an unprecedented situation that has affected the entirety of our industry,” said David Hidalgo, show manager. “However, our purpose of connecting and inspiring our industry remains alive and stronger than ever, so to face our common challenges together we are going to transform the way we engage our community. IBTM Americas is evolving to a 2.0 version that offers the opportunity to continue delivering our mission through an always-on 365-day platform to do business, to network and to learn from each other.”
IBTM Americas 2.0 will be a mix of online and offline marketing actions and sales opportunities designed to deliver a virtual and face-to-face experience focused on the meetings and events industry. More information will be available in the coming days.
“On behalf of Reed Exhibitions, I would like to express my gratitude to all our exhibitors, partners, attendees, suppliers, media and staff for their support,” said Hidalgo. “IBTM Americas will continue to be the industry meeting point to consolidate and strengthen our business and personal relationships and we look forward both to this year’s virtual events and to meeting in person again at our next annual event in Mexico City.”
IBTM Americas 2021 will be held May 19 and 20, 2021 at Centro Citibanamex.
