InterContinental Hotels & Resorts reports that the InterContinental San Antonio Riverwalk will open this summer (2024).

The 21-storey property features 390 rooms with 20 suites, 18,000 square feet of meeting space, a Club InterContinental lounge, and four unique restaurant and bar concepts.

Located in the bustling downtown Riverwalk neighborhood – and less than a mile from the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center – the InterContinental San Antonio Riverwalk will offer direct access to the landmark pedestrian promenade as well as easy access to a water taxi-landing zone.

At the helm is the newly appointed general manager Stefan Gruvberger, who brings nearly 30 years of global hospitality experience with him to Texas. Gruvberger has led numerous hospitality teams throughout his tenure and is looking forward to captivating guests and locals alike with meaningful, culturally rich experiences.

Owned by Trailbreak Partners in conjunction with Scarlett Hotel Group, the hotel is designed by Leo A Daly in conjunction with the internal IHG design team. Its overall aesthetic is inspired by classic film heroine Joan Crawford and the golden age of Hollywood. Seamlessly blending mid-century architecture and furnishings with elegant finishes, design details include plush velvet furniture in various pops of color and brass, marble, dark wood, cognac leather and glass finishes.

Other highlights of InterContinental San Antonio Riverwalk include:

• a variety of meeting and event spaces, including an intimate boardroom with the latest audio-visual capabilities, an 8,000-square-foot ballroom with 18-foot ceiling, and flexible meeting space with views of the San Antonio skyline;
• an 1,800-square-foot state-of-the-art fitness center;
• Les Clefs d’Or concierges;
• on-site valet parking services along with an ample self-park garage;
• dedicated house cars;
• same-day dry cleaning services and shoeshine capability;
• and a Club InterContinental lounge.

Developed in conjunction with Heartwood Hospitality, the hotel’s four restaurant and bar concepts include a ground floor American brasserie; a sociable third floor rooftop pool and cocktail oasis; a grab-and-go all-day café and coffee shop; and a luxurious lobby bar with an extensive cocktail menu.

The anticipated 2024 summer opening will be part of IHG Hotels & Resorts’ 2024 development pipeline in Texas, with 15 new properties opening across eight brands in all stay categories, including lifestyle, luxury, premium, essentials and suites.
