Hyatt Hotels Corporation (NYSE: H) announced today that a Hyatt affiliate has entered into an agreement with Hoteles Color Especial S.L. for Thompson Seville. This new hotel will mark the first Hyatt hotel in the fourth-largest city in Spain, and one of the most attractive locations in Spain, which is the second-largest tourist destination in the world.

Anticipated to open in 2026, the luxury lifestyle property will be the fourth Thompson Hotels property in Europe, joining Thompson Madrid, which opened in 2022, and the previously announced Thompson Rome, expected to open mid-2024, and Thompson Vienna, which is slated to join the Hyatt portfolio in 2025.

“We have ambitious plans for our brand expansion in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, and today’s announcement is a true testament to our continued success in strengthening our position and ever-growing brand footprint in the region,” said Javier Águila, group president, EAME, Hyatt. “We are honored to work with Hoteles Color Especial S.L. as we start our journey in a new city for Hyatt – the vibrant Seville, in which we aim to create yet another unique and luxurious experience for leisure travelers. The Thompson Hotels brand has a vast potential in our region, and particularly in cities that combine a strong leisure and lifestyle offering.”

Home to three UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including the Royal Alcázar of Seville (shown top of post), and bursting with flamenco music, Andalusian gastronomy and antique charm, Seville is a perfect base for a hotel that aims to curate the best of each destination’s culture as part of the guest experience.

Located within walking distance of the city’s center, Thompson Seville will feature 101 guestrooms and suites, a restaurant, a rooftop bar with a pool, dedicated meeting rooms, coworking space, and a gym, among other amenities.

The expansion of the Thompson Hotels brand is reflective of Hyatt’s accelerated brand growth in Spain. Hyatt’s Spanish portfolio spans 11 different brands. With the combination of iconic properties in cities such as Madrid and Barcelona with its portfolio of resorts in the Canary and Balearic archipelagos, Hyatt offers the fourth-largest hospitality portfolio in the country by room count.
